Dear Burbank Families, Now that my first year at Burbank is almost over, I’ve had the opportunity to participate in several of the Burbank “traditions”. Last Friday night we had “Math Night” here at Burbank. There were several students and their families participating in the math activities, which were fun and challenging. This week I was able to experience the Geography Challenge for students in grades K-4. The Geography Challenge is a wonderful tradition here at Burbank and one that both students and families look forward to all year. The excitement and energy in the air, both Tuesday and Wednesday was contagious, even though the weather was dreary outside. The students came prepared for the geography questions, and worked together nicely in teams. One thing I’ve observed during my first year here at Burbank is how great all the traditions are for the students at our school. All of the PTA events provide community building for our families. It’s through these events that I feel as though I’ve gotten to know students and parents better. I want to thank all of the volunteers that helped put together the Math Night and Geography Challenge, they are both wonderful events that all of our students enjoy and look forward to throughout the year. I hope everyone has a relaxing and hopefully sunny weekend. Just a reminder that on May 23rd, we have an early release day; students will be dismissed at 11:40 a.m., so that teachers can join their colleagues across town at Belmont High School for their PLT presentations. Also, the last day of school will be on June 14th, and that will also be an early release day, dismissal will be at 11:40 a.m.
Sincerely, Tricia Clifford, Ed.D
