METCO Family Friends Program

In addition to students who reside in the Winn Brook district, there are also some Boston students who attend Winn Brook. Belmont Public Schools has participated for over 25 years in the state-funded METCO program, an urban-suburban exchange program in which students are bused from Boston to Belmont each day. A  mentoring program in place for our Boston students.  It is intended to enrich the children's school experience and help them to feel more connected to, and supported by, the Winn Brook community.  We know that when children develop strong and trusting relationships with teachers, they are more apt to be engaged, enthused  and successful in school.   Placement of new students from Boston into Winn Brook classes is predicated on enrollment figures at a given grade level.
