Welcome to YEAR SEVEN! The Becca Pizzi 5k and kids 1 mile run. Sunday, August 28th. Dri-fit t-shirts, Dr Teals Epsom salt, TB12 goodies, Ultima Replenisher Electrolyte packs, Cambridge Trust water bottles are some of the fun swag that we will be provided to all registered runners! All race proceeds benefit the Becca Pizzi Foundation for the purpose of awarding Belmont High School student/athlete scholarships. The Becca Pizzi Foundation has awarded over 50k in scholarships and sports equipment for Belmont High School. iCal

I write to inform you that new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in our school community. Week of 6/22/2022: Twenty-six (26) new COVID-19 positive cases in the district: (3) Belmont High School, (17) Chenery Middle School, (1) Burbank Elementary School, (3) Butler Elementary School, (1) Winn Brook Elementary School, and (1) Wellington Elementary School.

The Summer Reading Lists are a joint project of the Belmont Public Schools and the Belmont Public Library. They are designed to encourage students in Belmont to make reading a habit, raising both their interest in and level of reading. These books and works from authors are available to view in print and as e-books and e-audiobooks that can be borrowed free of charge from the Belmont Public Library’s collections in Libby and in Hoopla.

Every public school district, charter school, vocational school, and virtual school in Massachusetts is reviewed regularly by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Office of Public School Monitoring. As explained on their website, their vision is “Equitable outcomes for all students,” and their mission states that they “serve students by conducting data analyses and reviews of special education and civil rights policies, procedures, and practices in order to support district efforts to build equitable and inclusive educational systems that meet the diverse needs of all students.”

A Message from the Belmont Public Schools Student Services Department

During the week of January 24, 2022, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Office of Public School Monitoring (PSM) will conduct a Tiered Focused Monitoring Review of the Belmont School District. The Office of Public School Monitoring visits each district and charter school every three years to monitor compliance with federal and state special education and civil rights regulations. Areas of review related to special education include student assessments, determination of eligibility, the Individualized Education Program (IEP) Team process, and IEP development and implementation. Areas of review related to civil rights include bullying, student discipline, physical restraint, and equal access to school programs for all students.
