The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has released the final Remote Learning Guidance for Fall 2020. We also received Additional Staff Training Days (changes to 180 day requirement) outlining the agreement the Commissioner made with the state teachers’ unions to allow for additional staff training days at the start of the 2020-21 school year. This will be discussed and voted by the School Committee at their meetings next week.

These and all other documents released by DESE are available on our district website at this link.

They include:

District leaders, in collaboration with educators and the BEA and town partners (Board of Health, Police, Fire and other town departments), continue to work on the development of hybrid and remote learning plans for the 2020-21 school year.

We will hold two School Committee meetings next week:

  • Tuesday, August 4 at 6:30 p.m. to present the hybrid and remote models
  • Thursday, August 6 at 6:30 p.m. to hold a community forum to receive feedback on the models

Please go to the School Committee page tab Notices and Agendas for the agendas and access to the meetings.

Respectfully,

John P. Phelan
