COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program 

Do you need help paying your rent?

This program helps Belmont renters who have lost income and are having trouble paying rent as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In July, Belmont Housing Trust set up an Emergency Rental Assistance Program using Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds.

Maximum monthly payment for 3 months: $950 - 1BR; $1,145 - 2BR; $1,440 - 3BR.

An eligible renter household is one who: 

  • Currently lives in Belmont.
  • Has reduced income because of COVID-19.
  • Has annual income at the time of application at or below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI). Preference will go to households with 60% AMI or below.
  • Households receiving a subsidy from another rental assistance program are not eligible (Section 8, public housing, Massachusetts Rental Voucher program or similar).

  • Applications are being accepted now. Applications Due August 14.
  • Applications received after 8/14/20 will be added to the bottom of the waiting list and processed until all funds are committed.
