Belmont Meal Pick-Up Update

We had an incredible turnout the past few days and wanted to share that we served over 10,000 meals via our free meals pick up service! We’re sorry for any of you caught in our traffic jam on Wednesday, but we were so happy you were able to participate!

Here is some guidance and key points so our program can run smoothly in the weeks to come.

  • Meal kits are free (USDA allows us to have free meals through 12/31/20 or until funding runs out)
  • Meal kits will contain 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches and will vary from week to week
  • You do not need to register ahead of time for meal pick up
  • You can only pick up one time per week (see schedule below)
  • Meal kits are available for any child ages 0-21
  • We will be recording last name and number of children at pick up time
    • It’s helpful to have your names listed on a piece of paper and taped in the car window
  • Please remain in your vehicle and our staff will load items accordingly
  • If you are currently getting meals delivered from us, you CANNOT partake in the meal pick up

Here is our meal pick up schedule that will start on Monday, 9/28. We ask that you come on the day signified by the first letter of your oldest child’s last name. Please follow the below schedule as best you can to prevent overloading our team, so we can serve you quickly. If you cannot make your scheduled day, feel free to attend another.

Example: If your oldest child’s last name is Henderson; you would pick up on Tuesdays.

MONDAYS: 7:30AM to 9:30AM; Last name starting with A - F

TUESDAYS: 7:30AM to 9:30AM; Last name starting with G - K

WEDNESDAYS: 7:30AM to 9:30AM; Last name starting with L - P

THURSDAYS: 7:30AM to 9:30AM; Last name starting with Q - U

FRIDAYS: 7:30AM to 9:30AM; Last name starting with V - Z

LOCATION: Belmont High School (Loading Dock), 221 Concord Avenue, Belmont, MA, 02478

All students who receive free/reduced meal benefits (as of 9/24) as well as families who signed up through the survey. As we only have one delivery van, our capabilities are limited and are no longer taking delivery requests. The first round of deliveries for those who signed up through the survey will go out on Tuesday, 9/29 (free and reduced deliveries starting getting delivered on 9/24). We cannot accommodate every delivery in one day, so they’ll be spread out Monday through Friday. Please be patient and touch base if you have not received your first delivery by Monday, October 5th. If you need to opt out of deliveries or change address; please e-mail Gail Mulani (Assistant Food Service Director) at gmulani@belmont.k12.ma.us

NOTE: You cannot take part in both meal pick up and home deliveries.

Thank you for your patience while we roll out this new program. Our team is working hard to bring smiles to your children’s faces once again! Please reach out with any questions you might have.
