New Menu items are now available at all of the Elementary Schools in Belmont. Starting the first week of April 2023 the food service team will be offering two weekly vegan choices in addition to our regularly planned menu.

The Belmont Public School’s Food & Nutrition Department would like to update you with exciting news about universal free school meals. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has extended free school meals for all students through the 2022-2023 school year! This means that every student is eligible to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each day. All additional meals outside the first breakfast and lunch will be charged along with the school’s current meal rates.

Meal pick up will still be open at BHS during our hybrid models from 7:30AM to 9:30AM every school day. It is the SAFEST and most efficient way to get meals to our student body. Please note we will continue through the upcoming models until guidance is released to safely feed students in an unrestricted setting in our cafeterias.

First off, thank you to all participating families who have been coming by our meal pick up over the last month. The turnout has been tremendous and truly supports our children as well as our program. In the last four weeks, we have seen over 70,000 meals go out the door! We have determined that meal pick up and home meal kit delivery is the SAFEST and most efficient way to get meals to our student body. Please note we will continue through the upcoming models and until guidance is released to safely feed students in an unrestricted setting in our cafeterias.

We had an incredible turnout the past few days and wanted to share that we served over 10,000 meals via our free meals pick up service! We’re sorry for any of you caught in our traffic jam on Wednesday, but we were so happy you were able to participate! While the start of the school year looks a little different for everyone, I wanted to share with you some good news that schools nationwide recently received. The USDA extended a waiver that allows schools to serve free breakfast and lunch to ALL students, as late as December 31, 2020 or as long as funding is available. We are thrilled with this news as it means that we will be able to provide all Belmont students with nutritious and nourishing food for free that will support them, both in school and at home. Here are the multiple methods in which meals will be available.
