Every public school district, charter school, vocational school, and virtual school in Massachusetts is reviewed regularly by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Office of Public School Monitoring. As explained on their website, their vision is “Equitable outcomes for all students,” and their mission states that they “serve students by conducting data analyses and reviews of special education and civil rights policies, procedures, and practices in order to support district efforts to build equitable and inclusive educational systems that meet the diverse needs of all students.”

I write to inform you that new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in our school community. Week of 5/25/2022: One hundred and thirteen (113) new COVID-19 positive cases in the district: (26) Belmont High School, (32) Chenery Middle School, (22) Burbank Elementary School, (9) Butler Elementary School, (10) Winn Brook Elementary School, and (14) Wellington Elementary School.

It’s our High School seniors last day of school! Come June, our seniors will graduate, our 8th graders will move up, and all our Belmont Public School students will finish a school year that saw us get closer to ‘back to normal’. Thank your child’s teacher, or other special staff member, by honoring them with a STAR Award from the Foundation for Belmont Education. With a donation of $25 for each award (or $100 for 5 awards) to the Foundation for Belmont Education, your honored recipient will receive a personalized certificate with the name of the donor and an optional personal message.

The month of May should be renamed "Appreciation Month." We are so fortunate to have dedicated and caring staff within the Belmont Public Schools, and we were happy to recognize them during teacher/staff appreciation week on May 2-6 (where families contributed snacks and goodies to schools), the FBE Outstanding Teacher Awards on May 5, and Staff Recognition day on May 10 (see below).
