John P. Phelan, Superintendent of Schools

In every entry you will find news from the schools as well as entries that will be staples in each edition, such as Teaching and Learning, School Committee Updates, and Good News.  We hope to highlight our staff, students, and this amazing community we are all part of.  There is a tremendous amount of activity in every school in Belmont, and we are proud to share it through this newsletter and the BPS website.

Superintendent's Newsletter December 16, 2020

date 12/16/2020

This is our last newsletter of 2020. We hope you have a wonderful holiday and new year and a restful winter recess. The last day of school before the break is on December 23, and we resume classes on January 4.

Please see the Winter Holiday Guidance and other information in the last Town weekly Friday update. Superintendent's October 29, 2020 Newsletter

date 10/29/2020

We begin this October newsletter by celebrating our principals during National Principals Month. We want to thank our principals and assistant principals for all the work they do, especially during this challenging time of coronavirus.

We also want to thank the schools' PTAs/PTOs for helping to purchase items such as milk crates for our elementary children to store items under their desks, handwashing timers for students in beginning grades, and for providing snacks and water for teachers during "Meet and Greets."

At this time we want to remind our families that schools are closed on Tuesday, November 3, Election Day, and on Sunday, November 1, Daylight Savings Time ends, marking the time we turn our clocks back one hour.
