Dear Belmont Community,

I am writing to introduce myself as Belmont’s next superintendent of schools. I am honored to join this vibrant community, with its strong academic tradition, as its next educational leader and excited about the opportunity to serve the students and families of Belmont.

I have been in the field of education for about 30 years as a teacher as well as school and district leader. I have a deep belief in the power of education to transform lives and communities and I am driven by the commitment to providing excellent educational opportunities for every student. I believe in supportive and equitable learning environments that foster creativity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.

As we move forward, I am looking forward to the work of maintaining the high educational standards we have always had while advancing the district on the path of continual improvement and innovation. I am eager to work with all stakeholders to ensure we have an education system where every student can thrive.

Over the past couple of months, I have been working with Superintendent Phelan and the central office leadership team to start the transition process with the aim of making it as smooth as possible. I have been meeting with building leaders and town officials, as well as attending a few community events. I appreciate the warm welcome I have already received from many and I look forward to ongoing conversations with community members. After my official start in July, I will be hosting opportunities to meet members of the community as part of my entry planning to help me learn more about Belmont.  

In closing, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Belmont community for your continuous support and dedication to the students of the Belmont Public Schools. I am excited to begin the work of collaborating with you to make Belmont an even greater place for our students to learn, grow, and thrive.
