At Butler Elementary’s Veterans Day Assembly, students honored local veterans with poems and patriotic songs. Veterans were welcomed with enthusiastic applause and sincere appreciation from students, teachers, and parents. Led by music teacher Ms. Livermore, 3rd graders gave a beautiful performance of “My America,” blending two songs into one moving tribute. As the veterans marched out, students eagerly reached out for high fives, honoring these real-life heroes with heartfelt smiles and cheers.

Congratulations to the Butler School Community! Daniel Butler Elementary School Receives School of Recognition Honors. We are thrilled to announce that Daniel Butler Elementary has been recognized as a 2024 School of Recognition by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). Out of the 1,750 K-12 public schools in Massachusetts, only 57 were chosen for this distinction, and Butler is excited to be among them. For a full list of schools that were recognized, click here. Each fall, DESE publishes accountability reports for each district and school. Accountability percentiles indicate how a school is performing overall compared with other schools. A school's percentile is calculated by combining information related to student achievement, student growth, English learner progress, and chronic absenteeism. As a School of Recognition, the Butler School is one of only a small number of elementary schools that demonstrates high achievement and high growth and meets or exceeds targets; additionally, subgroups with high needs demonstrate a higher level of growth than the state’s accountability goals. It also indicates that we have improved our attendance and our English learners are meeting proficiency standards at a rate that is higher than the state guidelines. This achievement is because of the dedication of our students, the support of our families, and tireless efforts of the Butler staff that the Butler School is exceeding expectations. "This accomplishment reflects the hard work, resilience, and commitment of every member of the Butler community," said Principal Julie Babson. "Our students are not only meeting academic standards but surpassing them, showing remarkable growth in areas such as Math and English Language Arts. These results confirm that we are on the right track for providing the highest quality education for all our learners. Together, we are building a bright future for every student at the Butler School."
