School Handbook
Dear Chenery Students and Families,
Welcome to Chenery Upper Elementary School! This Student & Caregiver Resource Guide was developed by a committee composed of parents/guardians and teachers and is designed to help you get to know our school community. The contents within support our core values: Chenery CARES: Cooperation, Agency, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-Regulation. When we work together to reinforce these competencies, our school functions as a community that is supportive, positive, energetic, and one that upholds high expectations for learning, behavior, and social responsibility. It is based on the need to create and maintain a positive climate, both in school and on campus. This work is a partnership between school personnel, students, and their caregivers.
This resource is organized to allow students and families to access information on many topics related to the school experience here at Chenery Upper Elementary School. We encourage students and caregivers to review this information together before the start of the school year. Please see the table of contents to navigate the topics within this guide. Each of these sections are hyperlinked within the document so that they are easy for students to find. We will be talking about those areas together in our Responsive Advisory Meeting as our school year progresses.
If I can be of any assistance to you or your children, please contact me at 617-993-5800. My office is always open to you.
Respectfully,
Dr. Laura Smith,
Principal
