Welcome to Belmont Public School District and the Town of Belmont!

We hope your work experience with BPS is a long and rewarding one. In addition to wonderful schools and colleagues, the district offers an array of benefit programs including insurance, flexible spending, and retirement plans to eligible employees. Benefits-eligible employees include: 

  • Regular salaried employees working 0.5 FTE or more per year

  • Regular hourly employees working 20 hours or more per week

  • Long term substitute educators (Unit A) working 61 or more consecutive days in the same assignment.

Please note that all insurance and flexible spending benefit programs are administered by the Town of Belmont Department of Human Resources. The Department is located in the Town Hall building, adjacent to the School Administration Building.  For more information please contact:

Benefit Information

Benefit Enrollment Requirements

  • Employees who are eligible for benefits must enroll within 30 days of their first date of employment in the eligible assignment. All new employees must turn in their benefit forms no more than thirty (30) days after their first day of work.

  • If you do not enroll within 30 days of your start date, you will not be able to enroll until the next Open Enrollment period or qualifying event occurs. Open Enrollment for health and dental benefits is in early May with the effective date of July 1.

  • To complete enrollment you must submit your applications, marriage certificate and birth certificates to the Town of Belmont Human Resources office. You can either reach out to the Town of Belmont HR office at 617-993-2744 to obtain a secure link to upload documents electronically, or mail your documents to:

  • New employees may choose the effective date on which each benefit commences to be either their first day of employment, or thirty (30) days after the start date.

  • If the new employee decides to enroll in health insurance immediately, extra payroll deductions will be taken as the Town pays insurance one month ahead.

  • Otherwise, the Town will collect the premiums in deductions one (1) month prior to the start of coverage, and benefits will commence thirty (30) days after your start date.
