library grant

The FBE is thrilled to announce this large grant award to the Belmont Public Schools, to address the urgent needs of two school libraries.

In Fall 2023 as the new Middle School Building opened, including a beautiful space designated for a Middle School Library, a need was identified.  While the seventh and eighth grade students moved into the new building, the library books appropriate for their reading cohort remained at the Chenery Upper Elementary School, in service of the many advanced readers who would remain in that building.

The Foundation connected with district leadership to assess the needs of not only the BMS library, but the needs throughout the district.  Following consultation with Follett Books, and after assessing the anticipated transition for Fourth Graders into the CUE next year, the Foundation for Belmont Education is thrilled to announce a Special Project Grant of $100,000 to the Belmont Public Schools.

This grant is anticipated to fund the creation and purchase of a collection for the BMS library as well as providing materials to supplement the existing library at CUE so that all Fourth Grade students will have access to library materials that match their interests and needs, across reading levels.

Thanks to the generous support of our donors, investors and the Belmont community, the Foundation for Belmont Education is able to meet this need for our students in transition.
