Educators, administrators, and community members gathered at the BPS library yesterday to work together to design Belmont's Portrait of a Graduate. At their first meeting, facilitated by Jessica Harding from Battelle for Kids, the group engaged in deep discussions about the meaning of success, the essential skills needed to thrive now and in the future, and ways to identify and understand these evolving needs. The team drew upon their diverse experiences and backgrounds as students, parents, educators, business leaders, and professionals in the workforce to thoughtfully examine shifts in the workplace landscape, the accelerated pace of change, social intelligence, and advancements in learning science. With three more meetings ahead, this collaborative effort will enable the design team to create a shared Portrait of a Graduate that captures the community's aspirations for every student.
