On February 27th, Belmont Public Schools had the pleasure of hosting Yim Tae-hee, Governor of Education from the Gyeonggi Province in South Korea. BPS Superintendent Dr. Jill Geiser and BHS Principal Isaac Taylor warmly welcomed Governor Yim to Belmont High School, engaging in insightful discussions about education practices in South Korea and Massachusetts, highlighting both similarities and differences.
During his visit, Governor Yim met with BHS administrators and teachers, observed Algebra, Biology, and English classes, and gained firsthand insight into instructional methods. He and his delegation also enjoyed a student-led tour of the high school, which featured a lively lunchtime Q&A and a photo opportunity with students.
Governor Yim’s education reforms in South Korea focus on personalized learning and artificial intelligence, and his visit provided valuable insights into these evolving areas of education. The visit was a wonderful opportunity for cross-cultural exchange, fostering discussions on teaching strategies and innovation, and global collaboration in education.
A special thank you to BHS's Angie Hernandez for coordinating the visit.
